Finally…it’s Shamu and Friends! October 28, 2009

I have been a little busy taking part in life. Camping, grilling, taking pictures, laughing, hanging out with friends, taking more pictures, singing, dancing, celebrating, taking more pictures, meeting new people, landscaping, homeschooling, loving on my daughters and husband, and taking more pictures. Aw shucks, summer is over.

I still have pictures from our trip to Sea World to share with you. Maybe that will help us all to hang on to summer for a few more days, unless, you’re a lover of Fall??? I am too, but Shamu has been so patient. So, here we go!

These are some friends and my family. Hi!

Although I could see him swimming around, the shape of the tank made it hard to predict where exactly he was going to pop up. I learned NOT to look in the water, but to wait with my camera to my face until I saw him break the surface of the water. It was awesome!

Hmmm, if I could be anywhere on the face of the planet, I’d like to be where this young man is right now……..(joke)

Shamu is really big.

I left this one big because I want you to see how close the guy is to Shamu’s mouth. He really loves Shamu!

The whale on the left is not Shamu, it’s a much younger and slightly smaller one. (Still gets some air.)   The guy on the right is riding Shamu, you can tell by the “leaning” dorsal fin. More water droplets, how delightful!

Sea World was so much fun. One day was not enough, wish we could’ve gone for three days, there was too much to see for just one day. I still took a lot of pictures and have more to show you. Maybe I’ll wait and post them in the middle of winter when we might appreciate seeing the warm sun.

Had Fun at Sea World September 24, 2009

We had the pleasure of visiting Sea World in Orlando, Fl this summer. We’ve been there before, but it’s been a few years. Some of our friends went with us, which makes it all the more fun. I took my Canon EOS Rebel XTi with my 75-300mm lens. I did my best to get some good shots. It was partly cloudy and sprinkled on us at the end of the day. Although we didn’t see everything, I took pictures of all that we did see. Overall, I had a great time and so did everyone else.

Because I took SO MANY pictures, I’m going to have to post a little each day, or every few days. My favorite part? Shamu! I’ll save those for last.

We’ll start with the seal show. Great skit, funny, entertaining, sat in the shade.

The pirates look a little stern, but it was all part of the skit. It didn’t seem to bother the seals, they enjoyed all the stimulation, and they were pretty good actors themselves.

He was supposed to be looking for the treasure map.

This is the, “get someone from the audience and soak them” time during the skit. It was pretty funny.

Sugar and Spice September 22, 2009

No, she’s not a toddler adorned with bouncy blond curls haloed around her cute little face, but she once was. That was her sweetness. The spice came into play when you watched her walk and heard her talk. Adorable, and have never met anyone quite like her since.

Her hair has darkened and the curls are tamed and styled, framing her still “cute little face.” She’s in high school now and experiencing life in a good way. We set out to take a few pictures of her brother, who is a senior now (previous post) and decided to get a few of her as well. I can tell you that she’s a natural poser. Every time I got through with a certain pose with her brother, I’d look around to find her and she’d be sitting or standing in such a way that I’d yell “stay right there, don’t move!” and make a mad dash to where she was. It was wonderful and she is absolutely wonderful!
